In the United States, Ford is recalling more than 870,000 newer models of the F-150 pickup truck owing to an unexpected activation of the electronic parking brake.
Certain trucks manufactured between 2021 and 2023 and equipped with a single exhaust system are included in this recall. The manufacturer asserts that a rear wire bundle may come into touch with the casing for the rear axle, resulting in a short circuit that automatically engages the parking brake in the absence of any intervention from the driver.
This raises the likelihood of an accident occurring.
The protective tape on the rear wire harness will be replaced if it is found to be worn by the dealership. Beginning on September 11, owners will be advised of this change by mail.
In North America, Ford has received 918 warranty claims and three field reports of wire chafing. Out of the 918 warranty claims, 299 indicate unexpected parking brake activation. There have been no recorded accidents or injuries caused by the problem.
