Officials said on Wednesday that Hyundai and Kia are recalling more than 91,000 cars because the electric oil pump component in certain of the vehicles may overheat, which increases the danger of a fire occurring.
According to the NHTSA, the Kia recall affects select 2023-2024 Seltos SUVs, as well as 2023 Soul and Sportage cars. In total, the recall affects 39,765 vehicles.

By the 28th of September, Kia is expected to have mailed notice letters to owners. Kia locations will provide free inspections and replacements for customers who bring their vehicles in for service.
Whereas Hyundai recall affects 52,008 cars – which include Sonata, Tucson, Kona to name a few.

By the 25th of September, Hyundai is expected to have mailed notice letters to owners. Customers can bring their cars to any dealership that sells Hyundai to receive a free inspection and replacement of any affected parts.
The NHTSA said “Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.” It further added, “The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat.”
